BUILDING BONUS GRANT
Building Bonus grants are available for people who enter into a contract to build a new home on vacant land or purchase a new home being constructed under a single-tier development on a strata plan or other land survey type.
A grant of $20,000 from the West Australian government is available for eligible applicants who
- enter into a contract to build a new home on vacant land or
- enter into an off-the-plan contract to purchase a new home as part of a single-tier development on a strata plan or other land survey type.
The contract must be entered into between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020. The requirement to commence construction of a new detached home has been extended to 12 months from the date of the contract.

HOME BUILDER GRANT
Additionally,you may be eligible to receive the Federal Government $25,000 HomeBuilder grant. Use the same online application form to apply for both grants. You will need to register for an online account before applying.
The HomeBuilder grant provides eligible owner-occupiers with a grant of $25,000 to build a new home, substantially renovate an existing home or purchase a new home off-the-plan.
The Australian Government HomeBuilder grant of $25,000 is available to eligible owner-occupiers who enter into a contract between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020 to
- build a new home or
- substantially renovate an existing home or
- purchase a new home off-the-plan.
The Australian Government requires your application to be submitted by 31 December 2020. RevenueWA will accept applications without all the supporting documents in order to meet this deadline and you will be able to upload the supporting documentation when it is available.
The HomeBuilder grant is administered by RevenueWA, with funding provided by the Australian Government.

This grant is different to the Western Australian Building Bonus grant. If you receive the HomeBuilder grant, you may still be eligible to receive the Building Bonus grant. Use the same online application form to apply for both grants. You will need to register for an online account before applying.
You may also be eligible to receive the first home owner grant.
The Australian Government requires construction to commence within three months of the contract date. The Commissioner has exercised discretion to extend this date by a further three months due to the high level of activity in the construction industry and the difficulties in obtaining materials and subcontracted labour.
Therefore, construction can commence within six months of the contract date.
